This is a way to stop the old cow tank of fashion?
In social studies, needto find a way for people who lived in the west during the transition in 1800, decided the cow. Please help!
The cow tank was more than likely prevented by 3 things. 1 – Dogs Most dogs on ranches were there to help warn against intruders and help with animal husbandry 2 – Wild animals (including cows), West still wild enough to have fun and not go out at night only to run into a beast who had probably been more important or better than they were 3 – The guards and the corridors of the largest pen of the farms were men on duty for more than wild animals, and anything else that could wreak havoc at night. Weapons Fire has been a staple food and the impact of noise, you can find pellets or bullets whizzing around his head and shoulders.

Old MacDonald Had a Cow $3.48 From the terrific illustrator of Who Built the Ark? and Oh, What a Noisy Farm! comes another hilarious cumulative tale, full of joy and action: a topsy-turvy version of Old Macdonald. With fuzzy flocking throughout and on the cover, this bright picture book is bound to become a favorite.Old MacDonald had a cow… With those words, even the youngest children will realize this isn’t your ordinary version of the favorite song. The fun begins as the farmer milks his cow, and continues as Old MacDonald uses that milk to feed his animals and his children too. Along the way, there’s pulling and squirting, mooing and meowing, oinking and bow-wowing, and a great big GIMME! Youngsters will enjoy a fully interactive experience as they listen, join in and sing, applaud with the characters at the end of the story (hurrah for the cow!), and touch the soft flocking on every page. |

Cow and Boy $4.99 Evocative of a boy and his pet beagle, or a precocious six-year-old and his imaginary pet tiger, Cow and Boy isn’t afraid to tackle the complex relationship that exists between a boy and his cow. To balance yin, there is yang. To complement day, we have night. There are just some things in life that harmonize with one another and Mark Leiknes’s Cow and Boy creation definitely benefits from the paradox of its two central characters, namely one towheaded boy named Billy and his trusty bell-ringing sidekick Cow, who move through life’s adventures with a refined balance of curiosity, meaning, pathos, and humor. From inspired games of chess to grassy afternoon talks of reincarnation to lakeside swimming-hole ponderings that make room for a game of charades, Cow and Boy thoughtfully explores a different species of friendship in the funny pages. |

Cow Punk $19.66 Cow Punk is one of two discs Bear Family dedicated to Jenks “Tex” Carman’s post-Capitol Records work, when he recorded for the small label Sage and Sand. Carman’s brief popularity was centered around his knack for performing, but he was known within the music industry as “the worst musician in the world,” yet so unbelievably endearing that everyone fell in love with his performances — music aficionados and otherwise. While he certainly was far from the worst musician in the world, he did present the dichotomy of an awkward simpleton and a savvy showman, as if he knew that his success depended on his never working to rise above the rudimentary understanding of the complex style he was emulating. Carman is wonderfully charming, even when he falls apart, and that is no doubt why Bear Family has released Cow Punk, its sister collection The Old Guitar and Me (also a Sage and Sand sessions collection), and the Capitol recordings on Hillbilly Hula, but the label does apologize slightly in the liner notes by directing the listener away from Carman and toward the session guitarists, Joe Maphis and Roy Lanham. While both Maphis and Lanham contribute some interesting parts on these recordings, it’s Carman’s seemingly random chord changes and staccato picking that make his recordings so weird and interesting. Still, releasing all of the Sage and Sand material on top of the Capitol material is spreading Carman a bit thin, except for enthusiasts of Carman. As an introduction to Carman, it is best to begin with either Hillbilly Hula or the wonderful Revenant collection Chippeha!: The Essential Dixie Cowboy (1947-1957), which collects radio performances as well as some of the Capitol and Sage and Sand recordings. After that, Cow Punk is worth checking out for the Western swing experiments Carman dabbled with in the early ’60s, and finally, should this not be completely satiating, The Old Guitar and Me will complete any collection of Jenks “Tex” Carman. ~ Gregory McIntosh, All Music Guide |

Buying the Cow $9.99 After five years of dating, David (Jerry O’Connell) gets what he feels is an ultimatum from his girlfriend, Sarah (Bridgette Wilson). She thinks they should get married. When his old buddy, Tyler (Ron Livingston of Swingers), a legendary womanizer, calls to announce his wedding plans, it only increases the pressure on David. When Sarah leaves town on a business trip, David has a chance to explore his options. He turns to his friends, Jonesey (Bill Bellamy), and the unrepentant lothario Michael (Ryan Reynolds, who also starred in director Walt Becker’s National Lampoon’s Van Wilder) for advice. Jonesey half-heartedly encourages David to marry Sarah. Michael, who treats women shabbily, tries to talk David out of it. David tells his friends about an epiphany that he had many years earlier, when he saw beautiful blond Julie (Erinn Bartlett) in an airport, and was instantly smitten. He knew she was the one. He courageously handed the strange girl his phone number, and a brief romantic correspondence ensued, but it ended disastrously. Uncertain about his destiny with Sarah, David spots another woman at a Mexican restaurant, and has the same feeling he had with Julie. He spends a lot of time and effort trying to track this mystery woman down, while Sarah, frustrated by their lack of progress, considers ending their relationship. Michael, meanwhile, has a real identity crisis, when he wakes up in a strange bed after a night of drinking, drugs, and debauchery, only to find a gay man in the bedroom with him. Buying the Cow also stars Alyssa Milano, Annabeth Gish, and Jon Tenney. The film was co-written by director Becker and Peter W. Nelson. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide |

These are the Texans of the don’t-fence-me-in era, their faces pinched by years of squinting into the desert glare, tanned by the sun and coarsened by the dust of the Chisholm Trail. Their stories are often raucous but just as often quiet as hot plains under a pale Texan sky.pA native Texan, J. Frank Dobie had an inborn knowledge of the men and customs of the trail camps. Cattlemen were as various as the country was big. Ab Blocker was a tall, quiet man who belonged totally to the cattle and the silent plains. But big men often had big lungs. Shanghai Pierce was the loudest man in the country. He would sit at one end of a day coach and in normal voice hold conversation with some man at the other end of the coach, who of course had to yell, while the train was clanking along. He knew everybody, yelled at everybody he saw.pTexas bred tall men and taller stories. There was Findlay Simpson, who played havoc with fact but whiled away the drivers’ long, lonely evenings with his tales. Old Findlay told of a country so wet that it bogged down the shadow of a buzzard, and of cattle that went into hibernation during rugged winters; he once spun yarns for three days straight, outlasting his listeners in a marathon of endurance.pAll real cow people–from the cattle drivers to the cattle owners–lived by a simple code based on the individual’s integrity. Bothering anyone else’s poke or business uninvited was strictly forbidden, and enforcement of this unwritten law was as easy as pulling a@×=p£×ÿ¾Úx |

Cosmic Cow : 193124345X $11.01 A novel that traces a maze of internal perceptions of how identities are shared and transformed.pCosmic Cow is, on the surface, the story of Sam and his journey taken -under the directions of his then 15-year-old wife, Judy. His journey to Tierra del Fuego and New York ends, ultimately, in San Francisco, where Judy is committed to a mental institution.pSuperficially, Sam’s journey is a standard quest, thwarted by his lover’s madness. But his real journey–a maze of internal perceptions with surrogates of himself and Judy at every turn–is an exploration of how we are sometimes animated by the identities of others. In this work, Eisenstein struggles with a concept of twins or duplicates on a metaphysical and epistemological level.pAuthor of The Inner Garden, Price of Admission and Rectification of Eros, Sam Eisenstein lives and teaches in Pasadena, California. |

Cow Fish Fowl or Pig $16.98 The photo of the Gourds on the back of the CD booklet makes an odd impression: just a few good old boys, sloppily dressed with beers in hand, sort of a shorthaired version of Lynyrd Skynyrd. But this anti-intellectual pose is just a pose. The title itself, Cow Fish Fowl or Pig seems a bit fantastic, as though someone in the band had spent time in a Masters of English Literature program. “My Name Is Jorge” even includes surrealistic references to William S. Burroughs, Henry Ford, and Muhammad Ali. While this may sound a bit serious, the bandmembers balance their brainy wit with good-time Americana filled with fiddles, electric guitars, accordions, and drums. One of the Gourds’ most appealing traits, in fact, is the way they change arrangements from piece to piece, turning “Bottle and a Dime” into Cajun-drenched rock and “The Prayer That Fell Upon the Mirror” into an acoustic feast. “Blankets” rolls along gently as the lyric tells the tale of a love affair that didn’t quite work out. The album is split into two parts, “the cow brings home the fish” and “the fowl tells the pig of each transgression,” and is divided by a spiritual rap delivered by the “Short Guy from ‘Chi-Town.’” This guest rap has the same “this is real” quality as a field recording, as the Short Guy tells how Christ delivered him from cocaine and other evils. The only downside to this innovative band is a vocal drone that seeps into most of its songs, casting a depressive air over the material (think new wave Americana). The combination of intelligent lyrics and a rich musical stew, however, offers listeners more substance than the average roots band. Fans will find Cow Fish Fowl or Pig as appealing as anything the Gourds have recorded. ~ Ronnie D. Cow Across America $14.86 ICow Across America/I is the winningly improbable story of two young men who set out walking to California with nothing but their wits and a milk cow named Ivy.PAt least that’s how Dwight Martin hears it growing up in the 1960s. He’s bored to tears at the prospect of spending the summer on his grandparents’ North Carolina farm. But he’s also estranged from his father and secretly terrified by the prospect of the adult world.PHe finds comfort in the wild yarns spun by his grandfather Wylie Rominger, who boasts that his adventure stories are true. The tales are dearly purchased, since Wylie makes Dwight pay him to hear each successive chapter. These unlikely exploits see Wylie and his childhood friend swept up the Mississsippi River, carried along by tornadoes, falling into Indian graves, and finding a secret shortcut through the Grand Canyon.PAs Dwight grows to manhood, he discounts the tall tales and angers the old man. His parents divorce. He makes his first attempt at wooing a young woman. Despite his modern misgivings, he can’t ignore the pull of those stories as he comes to grips with his own yearnings. When his grandfather dies, Dwight discovers that most of the tales were true–and he learns what Wylie did with all those nickels and dimes.PInspired in part by the raucous humor of Mark Twain, and tapping into the American pop culture of the 1960s and 1970s, ICow Across America/I is a book about the power of stories to link the generations. |

And the Cow Said Moo! $2.23 When an insistent (but well-meaning) calf demands that his barnyard friends say moo as he does, the pig, the sheep, the dog, the horse, and the duck have all got something to say about the matter — and you can bet it’s not moo! Can a wise old owl set the bossy little bovine straight about what’s what and who’s who? Fun and laughter abound in this jovial celebration of individuality and animal utterances at their very best! |

Wild Cow Tales : 0803270887 $8.47 In thirteen stories full of rope burns and brush scratches, the author of the classic Horse Tradin’ tells of the days when he made a specialty of catching wild cows.pBen K. Green calls himself a stove-up old cowboy, and readers of this book will learn soon enough where the broken bones came from. Green tells of his adventures with wild steers, sharing with readers the years he worked in thorny brush and canyon country delivering those animals that were too wily or too wild for the normal roundup. Cow People (The J. Frank Dobie Paperback Library) $8.98 Cow People records the fading memories of a bygone Texas, the reminiscences of the cow people themselves. These are the Texans of the don’t-fence-me-in era, their faces pinched by years of squinting into the desert glare, tanned by the sun and coarsened by the dust of the Chisholm Trail. Their stories are often raucous but just as often quiet as hot plains under a pale Texan sky. A native Texan, J. Frank Dobie had an inborn knowledge of the men and customs of the trail camps. Cattlemen were as various as the country was big. Ab Blocker was a tall, quiet man who belonged totally to the cattle and the silent plains. But big men often had big lungs. "Shanghai Pierce was the loudest man in the country. He would sit at one end of a day coach and in normal voice hold conversation with some man at the other end of the coach, who of course had to yell, while the train was clanking along. He knew everybody, yelled at everybody he saw." Texas bred tall men and taller stories. There was Findlay Simpson, who played havoc with fact but whiled away the drivers’ long, lonely evenings with his tales. Old Findlay told of a country so wet that it bogged down the shadow of a buzzard, and of cattle that went into hibernation during rugged winters; he once spun yarns for three days straight, outlasting his listeners in a marathon of endurance. All real cow people—from the cattle drivers to the cattle owners—lived by a simple code based on the individual’s integrity. Bothering anyone else’s poke or business uninvited was strictly forbidden, and enforcement of this unwritten law was as easy as pulling a trigger. Honesty was taken for granted, and a cowman’s name on a check made it negotiable currency. Yet Texas had its "bad guys"—the crooks, the thieves, even the tightwads. "A world big enough to hold a rattlesnake and a purty woman is big enough for all kinds of people," wrote Dobie. This is the world whose vast and various population the reader will find in Cow People. |
